Again this wasn’t Pikmin 4 but another unique take on the franchise. That console was the Nintendo 3DS.Ĥ years later in 2021, another installment in the franchise was released. While not Pikmin 4, Hey! Pikman was a standalone sequel to Pikmin 3 and is the series’ first installment on a handheld console. For 5 whole years, gamers would be left in the dark about the game’s development process leaving them speculating about the title’s cancellation.įollowing Pikmin 3’s launch in 2013 in 2017 instead of being greeted with Pikman 4 gamers were introduced to Hey! Pikmin. In 2016 nothing of substance was given related to the title., In 2017 progress was being made on the game’s development but then communication went dark. Back in 2015, Shigeru Miyamoto announced to gamers that Pikman 4’s progress was “very close to completion”. Pikmin 4’s first announcement can be dated back to 2015. Lastly, at the end of the trailer, the Pikman logo comes up with little Pikmin running into formation to make the four. In one of those icons was a napping Grub-Dog, an iconic enemy in the Pikmin franchise.
In the trailer, gamers could see separate shots of Pikmin 4’s environment. The official Pikmin 4 release date is set to be somewhere in 2023.Īs mentioned previously the trailer was only 34 seconds. While it was only a 34-second trailer it’s a relief to see that the title is seeing progress made on its development.
After a five-year hiatus, The Pikmin 4 release date was finally brought to gamers during the Nintendo 2023 Official Direct.
